Eyebrow Tattoo Aftercare
Good aftercare is important to ensure the long term success of your eyebrow tattoos. Following your eyebrow tattoo treatment you may feel some tingling or slight tenderness as the numbing agent wears off and the brows begin to heal. During the first 2 weeks, the time eyebrows will heal, it is better that you take great care not to expose them to activities like swimming or saunas or getting them wet or exposed to direct sunlight.
The eyebrows will fade during the healing process, and this is normal, and you will need the second top up treatment to complete your treatment so it is important you use the aftercare cream you are given and apply with a cotton bud in the morning and the evening, this will assist the healing process and stop them from drying out.
Appearance
Please be mindful that the brand new ink on your eyebrows from a new tattoo will most likely appear extremely dark and much thicker than expected, while others might seem exceedingly bright (eg. blondes and browns), so don’t be surprised. After about a week or so, the area and top layer starts to scab in certain places. The sections that do no scab and fall off will be a slightly different colour to those that have not. This is after the First Treatment at this point your new eyebrows are not yet complete, the second treatment is designed to complete the process as the ink penetrates to different depths and the second treatment gives a uniform finish to your new eyebrows.
The First Two Week Healing Period
The days following the procedure your eyebrows may feel itchy. This is normal and a good sign that they are healing properly. You might feel tempted to soothe the eyebrows with something cold. Although this will not necessarily reduce the symptoms, a cold compress (NOT frozen), damp tea bags, or face cloth (not wet), lightly placed onto the eyebrows will help relieve the discomfort. Be very careful not to rub, scratch, scrub, or exfoliate the new eyebrow tattoo area.
Average Healing Time
Average healing time will vary from person to person and will depend on several physiological factors that include age, skin type, circulation, hormonal cycles, and how easily and/or severely you swell and bruise. Generally, as with any type of skin trauma, older looser skin tends to take a bit longer than younger skin to heal. Other factors that may affect healing time include diet, excessive physical activity, exposure to direct sunlight, and any medications you might be taking.
Touch Up Procedure
After about 4-6 weeks book yourself in for a Top Up session. This Top Up will help the tattoo last longer and encourage the ink to embed more permanently into the skin and make any minor changes that are needed.
Following the Top Up the instructions for aiding healing are the same as those following the first procedure so be careful to care for your new Eyebrows in the same way.
How long does it last?
After your your top-up procedure the semi permanent tattoo pigment will last between 2-5 years. However if you notice it beginning to fade after awhile you can always pop back in for another top-up procedure!
Disclaimer
Everyone’s skin type is different and there is not definitive test to determine a skin type so we want to point out that most customers will need two treatments, the initial appointment and for those customers that need a Top Up, this usually needs to take place about 4 weeks after the first treatment as in most cases it will fade during the healing process.
We do give each customer ointment to aid the healing process but it is normal during the first 4 weeks for some fading to occur which is why we offer the Top Up service as this will rectify and finalise your Semi-Permanent Make Up so it will last for 2-5 years.
